Welcome CS198 and welcome to our new home, the WSG lab! XD

I and my thesis partner, Angelica, suggested to develop a game-based educational tool which covers the most topics of a given subject, since we, especially my partner, are interested in developing a tool that has something to do with education. The project will be a set of mini-games which tests a student’s skill in a chosen topic, and there must be some form of assessment of the student’s performance for each mini-game. Our thesis adviser, Dr. Caro, told us that the topics that will be covered by our project are topics from 4th year high school algebra, curriculum almost the same as our university’s Math 11 curriculum.

Since there are A LOT of existing educational games, additional requirements have been given. One, there should be new forms of collaboration (user-to-pc, user-to-user) in the game. For this, we were asked to choose between WiiRemote and SunSPOT as our games’ input device. This is to get out of the old keyboard-mouse setup when playing games. Also, users/students playing the game must have some way of interacting with each other, whether they are playing on the same machine or on separate ones, over the LAN or over the Internet. Next, each mini-game must have a form of assessing the student’s performance in the subject. Last, but DEFINITELY not the least,  in 9 months time, we must develop 10 (TEN) mini-games!
