SDK version trouble

with 2 comments

To move to another screen (or to move to use another controller), we have to start a new activity. Specifically, we wanted to move from the login screen to the list of babies.  Looking at the tutorials, we would use the method startSubActivity() to start an Intent, which is parallel to a frame in Java. However, it gives an error saying “The method startSubActivity(Intent, int) is undefined for the type  new View.OnCLickListener(){}”.

It turns out that startSubActivity() is now a defunct method. startSubActivity was for another version of Android(I think it was 1.1), and we’re using the 1.5 version. It was changed to startActivityForResult(). Hopefully Google did not change much of the method names because it will be confusing if we look for tutorials and end up with the wrong version.

  1. What reference are you using for your development? Just curious because you are using deprecated methods.

  2. Hi Sir,

As far as I know, we’re using the latest SDK release. However, we are still having problems using the API so sometimes we are relying on different tutorial sites on the internet.
