Computer Science is not simply programming

A little UI for the User Profile

leave a comment »

I never thought web designing was this hard!

One of our goals for Monday is to come up with a user profile extracted from Twitter and then of course typeset as beautiful as we can. I am stuck in the “as beautiful as we can” part. I am no artist and neither of us come from an art background. I wish we could just hire a graphic designer for this.

Then too, there’s so much more to consider than just displaying a profile. Should we include stats in the profile page? How about created courses? Should a list of friends be there too?  We haven’t decided about our features yet so I don’t know how to layout the whole profile page. When I tried designing I realized I needed to take all those into account. It has been driving me crazy.  There’s also the question of what information to put. Since we’re going to get from Twitter and Facebook this makes thing harder. Twitter doesn’t display as much info as Facebook. Does that mean we’ll have to follow the Twitter model or will there be two types of profiles? Decisions, decisions. >=/

But one thing is sure: we should be able to extract the profile and present it neatly on Monday.
