Congratulations!

I am optimistic that students will be able to comply with the final requirements for CS199 (3 papers, application documentation – installation and user manuals & source codes, posters and video clips and clearance from Mr. Leng Bengco) — with this, I am congratulating you guys for a fun 2009-2010 academic year! Most of you were able to do very well — unfortunately, there are three projects that may just be left behind pending requirements that need to be met before April 5.

Grades posted!

Folks,

Your grades are now available (except for two students who’re listed in another lab and the advisees of Dr. Caro – he told me what grades to give but just waiting confirmation via e-mail).

We are hoping that you are happy with what you have received. In as much as we wanted to give everyone the highest grade, 1.0, we just couldn’t due to the fact that you did not meet our expectations and requirements (for example – you don’t blog regularly).

Now that the second semester is fast approaching, expect more rigid requirements from your advisers. This is crunch-time already – either you make it or not. If you are not going to be really serious, then this early we are extending our apologies. However, we are hopeful that you will prioritize CS199 this second semester.

It has been settled that this semester’s presentation is scheduled on October 12, 2009, 830 to 12. The order of presentation will be determined on the same day. Each group is given 15 minutes (10 minutes for presentation and demo and 5 minutes Q&A) to present. Only one group member will present but both members will answer questions from the panel.

Smart MobDev Competition Teams

with one comment

Smart just posted the list of teams that registered for the competition. There are four (4) teams from UP Diliman, three (3) of which are from the Web Science Lab. Curious, though, about the other team. Do you know them?

Android Device

leave a comment »

On Wednesday, I will be turning over the Android device to the lab for your testing. I will be removing the SIM (so please put in a Globe/Smart prepaid SIM – couldn’t get Sun SIM to work). Unfortunately, this device has a defective wifi radio – which will render our app testing a bit more expensive considering that we need to connect to the internet via 3G. Yeah, can’t complain since this is free. 🙂 I am still trying to procure another one for the lab – just waiting for Smart to make the HTC Magic available as prepaid.
