Immunization

leave a comment »

Added the immunization record function last night. It contains the date of the visit, the dosage and the reaction.  I’m wondering if there are types of vaccine that might be needed to be indicated on the app. Also, we provided a way to record the date of next visit. So right now I’m thinking of adding a functionality wherein the user will have a reminder. This will make use of a “reminder” or “alarm” widget from Android — I’m still studying how to use it. Then if it’s successful we could link it to the “consultations” part of our application. But for now, this remains as an idea. Currently we need to focus more on the test plan, poster and paper.

This is the day. The final presentation for CS 198. Armed with cue cards and the Android phone in our hands, hopefully we are ready to present our months of hard work for the first semester. Good luck to everyone!

backgroundFinally done with our background!:D After days of struggling in drawing different versions, and searching for ideas, my partner finally accepted the background I recently made. This would now serve us our background for all the pages.

quick question

with 3 comments

We have 2 XML files, one for add baby and the other for edit baby. Problem is, these 2 files are exactly the same. Is it a waste of space to separate the add and edit baby layouts?

Also, the add and edit baby Java files are almost the same. Their only difference is a single line – one executes an insert statement, and the other executes an update statement. Should we also combine them in a single Java file?

database dilemma

with 2 comments

This is really a simple task, but there are too many ways on how to do this so we’re having a problem choosing the most appropriate one. In our developmental milestones table in the database, we need to insert initial data. We found at least three methods of implementation for this task.

Makeover 101

I’ve been having a hard time trying to understand Android themes and styles, what’s the difference, similarities..and which one I’m supposed to do first. Working on our layouts, which we have been revising over and over again to give way to new functionalities (and better appearance:p), we have pushed back doing the themes and styles.

audio recorder

leave a comment »

The eclipse in imac really has problems. It wouldn’t run our programs.

Anyway, we’ve finally tried the audio recorder in the Android phone! At first we didn’t know that it worked. We couldn’t find the file. It turns out the Android phone has an internal sd card. To access data in it, we have to mount the volume.

Next task: save the audio file in the database
