We were given three days to submit a poster for our thesis, and we weren’t so sure of the things to include in the poster. Nonetheless, we were able to come up with this (angge’s masterpiece :D) :

mmv poster 🙂

For now we have to wait for our advisers’ comments. 😀

MyMathVentures JR First Testing (Phase 2)

leave a comment »

Phase 2 includes the actual game playing, post test and survey. Here the kids played all the five games and answered a post test and a survey regarding their experience with the Wii Remote. We allowed them to play again any of the games that they liked. A lot of them requested to play Fishrithmetic over and over again because, according to them, it’s almost like real fishing.

plans for the fourth..

leave a comment »

For our fourth game, we decided that the topic would be on identifying numerical place values.  At first we thought of the don’t-let-the-mosquito-get-to-the-kid kind of game, where in the player must answer the question by splatting the mosquito with the correct answer before it bites the child. But we wanted the game to be more child friendly so we changed the mosquitoes to ants, and the child to cake.  The process is still the same, the ant with the correct answer will be splatted.

The interaction that we plan to use here are using the directional buttons of the wiimote to choose the right ant and then swinging down to splat the ant.

Sample screenshots to follow.

Still, this is subject to change.

As promised, here are some of our game 3 screenshots. Of course, it isn’t complete yet, as we are currently working on it. I think the colors need some working on, too, because everything seems so gray… Anyway, here’s how the game works:
